Strategic sectors

SAIFA directs its efforts across four main sectors: 

  • Culture and language sector, which includes institutions, communities, and initiatives working to safeguard and promote cultural expressions and linguistic heritage, is therefore a core focus of SAIFA. Through the integration of artificial intelligence, SAIFA will simulate, interpret, and support cultural and linguistic ecosystems in ways that enhance understanding, foster inclusion, and ensure that digital development reflects and respects regional realities.
  • in the Health sector, SAIFA will significantly enhance the national AI ecosystem by creating experimentation and validation environments for advanced AI healthcare services. These environments will enable collaboration between data scientists, clinicians, regulatory experts, and healthcare providers, facilitating technology transfer from research to real-world applications. SAIFA will support the development and validation of AI tools for clinical decision support, early diagnostics, and risk
    stratification, particularly in high-impact areas such as oncology, cardiology, endocrinology, and infectious diseases.
  • in the Energy sector, SAIFA solutions will advance the integration of renewable energy sources (RES), as well as the integration and interoperability of buildings and end-users with energy systems—including the electricity grid and district heating networks—and non-energy services such as mobility. Cutting-edge AI models, services and applications will be made available for cross-vector planning and holistic, integrated management on building and district level. Integrating multiple sectors or "vectors" such as Energy (renewables, storage), Mobility (transportation systems), Water management, Waste management, Buildings and districts, ensures synchronization among these sectors for efficiency and sustainability.
  • Environment and Sustainability are among the SAIFA focus areas because the rapidly intensifying rainfall extremes driven by global warming and climate variability, together with the impervious surfaces of modern cities and large‐scale deforestation at the river‐basin scale are transforming what were once manageable storm events into devastating urban floods. SAIFA will advance the existing AI-driven flood and water-quality forecasting ecosystem by providing Digital twins for real-time forecasting and long-term infrastructure planning. The tools will support long-term decision-making by simulating and comparing hybrid green–grey water infrastructure options under various climate scenarios, linking forecast outputs to interactive planning tools and visualization dashboards.
