Based on their functional role in the AI innovation ecosystem, SAIFA stakeholders can be divided into
- Primary stakeholders, organisations that directly contribute to the creation, development, validation or application of new AI solutions, e.g. data providers and domain experts, which provide relevant data and domain knowledge; AI research organisations and model developers, which contribute scientific expertise, research capabilities and AI development skills; AI application and technology developers, which transform research results and AI models into products, technologies and services; and AI application users and beneficiaries, which provide practical requirements, test solutions and generate real-world value from their application.
- Cross-cutting stakeholders that perform functions that support and connect primary stakeholders across SAIFA’s priority areas, e.g. ecosystem enablers and intermediaries, including hubs, science and technology parks, incubators, accelerators, clusters and professional or industry associations that facilitate networking and collaboration; investors and funding organisations, which provide financial resources for research, development, validation, deployment and scaling; and government institutions and public authorities, which contribute through policy and regulation, public funding, data, procurement, public-sector challenges and access to relevant public-service environments.
